In addition to the clarinet clinic held at our store on the above date, Dr. Scott also held three clinics in local school band halls. We at American Band were pleased to be one of Dr. Scott's sponsers. There is no doubt that all of the musicians attending both enjoyed were enlightened.


John Scott has appeared as a performer, recitalist, chamber musician and clinician throughout the United States. He has performed at the International ClarinetFest (Flagstaff and Tempe (Ariz.); in London, Paris, and Ostend (Belgium); recitals throughout Japan, Taiwan and the United States; with the Richardson Symphony Orchestra; and as clarinetist with Chamber Music International (Dallas, Texas). He is a consultant for the Music Medicine Clinic at the University of North Texas Health Science Center, Ft. Worth (Texas).

He has been editor of reviews and, until 1995, was advertising manager for The Clarinet, official journal of the International Clarinet Association. He appears on the Klavier CD "Birdsongs, Romantic Chamber Music of Arthur Bird."

Professor of clarinet at the University of North Texas College of Music since 1981, he earned both the master of music and doctor of musical arts in applied woodwinds and music literature from Indiana University (Bloomington), where he was a clarinet student of Henry Gulick. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, he is the interim Associate Dean for Admissions and Scholarship Services in the College of Music and is an artist/clinician for G. Leblanc.
