Glenn Wells
graduated as valedictorian of Union
Grove High School in 1975.
He attended Kilgore College for two
years and then transferred to Stephen
F. Austin State University where he
received his Bachelors of Fine Arts
degree in 1980. Glenn continued his
post graduate education at Stephen
F. Austin while he began his teaching
career. He was awarded a Master of
Arts in 1986 and a Master of Education
in 2001. Glenn’s twenty-four
year teaching career has included tenures
at West Rusk, Lufkin, Kilgore, Livingston
and Overton Independent School Districts.
His bands have been consistent UIL
Sweepstakes recipients and have been
extremely competitive in both the Texas
Music Educators Association’s
Honor Band process and the Associate
of Texas Small School Band’s
Outstanding Performance Series. Glenn
is currently the region band coordinator
for ATSSB in Region 21. He has also
served as TMEA band chairman in Region
4. Glenn credits much of his accomplishments
to many individuals throughout his
career principal among these would
be mentors such as Mel Montgomery,
Don Lawler, Waymon Bullock and Neal
Grant. He also hopes he has served
as a mentor to his students, many of
who have gone on to pursue an education
in music. Glenn’s professional
affiliations include the Texas Music
Educators Association, the Association
of Texas Small School Bands, and the
National Association of Military Marching
Bands. Glenn and his wife, Tracy, have
been married for 18 years and have
two sons, Kirk and John. John is a
beginning trombonist and Kirk is principal
tuba in the Mustang Band. |
