We are delighted to present the Canton High School band as the 2002-2003 High School 3A Honor Band under the direction of Rob Toups. The Board of Trustees, the administration, and staff of the Canton ISD are honored and excited by this opportunity to perform for outstanding musicians and administrators from across the state. Our “Mighty Band from Eagle Land” exemplifies the talent, dedication, and work ethic that we try to instill in each student. Of course, the same values are taught and practiced by the band directors and reinforced by parents and community members that support the outstanding program. Thank you for your support and the invitation to perform. I believe that the memory of this performance will act as a catalyst for future success. |

“ Making Excellence a Tradition” is the motto of Canton High School and no organization on campus has done more to uphold this theme than the Canton High School Mighty Eagle Band. No one in the program wants to settle for second best. These students understand the commitment involved in producing a quality presentation on either the marching field or in the concert hall. Setting goals and devoting the time required to achieve those goals leads to the excellence that is associated with this fine group of high school students. The work ethic is unparalleled on our campus. The achievements of this band would not be possible without superb leadership. The guidance and direction provided by Rob Toups, David Landry, Ginger Dillard, and Chris McHenry are recognized and appreciated by everyone in our community. A sign which is displayed in the band hall says, “What we play is life.” Nothing could be more true. These fine directors associate each music lesson with what our students face in life on a daily basis. They are learning decision making skills which may be applied to other life situations. It is with great pride that we present the Canton High School band in concert today. Enjoy their performance and celebrate their lives! |
