John Gibson is a native of Dallas. His catalogue of compositions, including works for band, orchestra, chorus, percussion ensemble, and musical theater, is consistently colored by his personal experience, expressed through an eclectic, but consistently accessible style. Mr. Gibson holds degrees from Texas Tech and North Texas and has taught in the Amarillo Public Schools, North Texas State, University of Arizona, McMurry University, and SMU. He has been commissioned by TMEA, The Revelli Foundation for Bands of America, numerous high school and junior high bands, and several symphony orchestras, university bands, percussion ensembles, churches, and choral groups. His works for band include The Spirit Sleeping, Resting in the Peace of His Hands, Gates Pass, Horizon, and Trinity Passage, among others. He serves as resident composer for the Dallas Wind Symphony and his publication affiliations are with Southern Music.


Michelle Lynn Smith is a 2002 graduate of Canton high School. During her tenure there, she served as principal saxophonist of the symphonic and jazz bands, and presided for two years as drum major of the marching band. She is also the current saxophone private lesson teacher on both the high school and middle school levels. A gifted performer, Ms. Smith advanced to two All State Bands and earned the University Interscholastic League’s “Outstanding Soloist” medal in 2001. Michelle, formerly the student of Eric Nestler at UNT, is currently the student of Don Fabian at Southern Methodist University, where she is pursuing a dual degree in Music Education and Saxophone Performance. Her professional affiliations include TMEA, ATSSB, MENC, and SASA, and she would like to thank God, parents, friends, and teachers for helping her thus far.


Ronald Todd has been a Texas band director for twenty-two years and is currently serving in his ninth year as Director of Bands at Tyler Junior College and Adjunct Professor at the University of Texas at Tyler. Prior to his years in Tyler, Mr. Todd taught fourteen years in the Nederland, Kirbyville, and Humble school districts. He holds B.M. and M.M. degrees from Lamar University and completed additional graduate study at The University of Texas at Austin, Rice University, The University of North Texas, and the University of Houston. Todd served as Chairman of TCCBDA from 1998 to 2000, and is the current repertory organizer. He is a member of the CBDNA, TMEA, TBA, TMAA, NAMMB, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity, and is an honorary life member of Kappa Kappa Psi Honorary Band Fraternity.


Mark W. Reeves has been the Music Director and Organist at the First United Methodist Church of Canton, Texas for 20 years. Throughout this period, Mr. Reeves has been called upon to accompany hundreds of students for UIL Solo & Ensemble contests as well as other events within the community. Mark graduated from Canton High School in 1976, studying piano under Alice B. Tindel. He received his High School Music Diploma from the National Guild of Piano Teachers, as well as receiving a rating of 99% at the International level of Guild auditions, earning him the distinguished Fredric Chopin medal for Performance. Mark continued his studies with George Mueller at Tyler Junior College, Stefan Bardas at North Texas State University (UNT), and Susan Madsen at the University of Texas at Tyler. He would like to thank his congregation for allowing him to work so closely with the Canton ISD Fine Arts program.
