The Martin Band Instrument Company
was established in Chicago prior
to 1891 and would be the oldest manufacturer
of band instruments in America had
production not been interrupted by
the great Chicago Fire. In 1906 the
compay was reestablished in Elkhart,
Indiana. It was later sold to the
Wurlitzer Compay and then purchased
by Leblanc and moved to Kenosha,
Wisconsin, in 1971. Martin is known
today primarily for its Commitee
Bb trumpets and the Urbie Green tenor
trombone.
